Thoughts about the TARDIS
Jan. 24th, 2011 10:27 pm1. So I'm rewatching the end of Doctor Who S3 right now (admittedly in a distracted and increasingly tipsy way), and I'm trying to sort some things out.
The TARDIS is a sentient creature, right? I mean, she's kind of a cyborg -- certainly she's got mechanical/electronic components -- but there's something in there that's alive.
It's assumed that she's capable of forming relationships, particularly with the Doctor who's traveled with/in her for 900+ years.
And she seems to be somewhat involved in the Doctor's regeneration process.
So having some other timelord crawl inside her to regenerate -- if she's not okay with that, is it rape? I kinda think so. Poor TARDIS. (ETA: and the Master totally gave her an STD, too.)
2. If I want a long, plotty Jack/Martha AU, I'm going to have to write it myself, hm? *grumbles* *heads of to search Teaspoon since AO3 is unhelpful* (I totally had this thought on my first pass through the series, too. I ♥ Martha.)
3. Why don't I have more Doctor Who icons, anyway?

Date: 2011-01-25 04:07 am (UTC)Personal fanon here is thus: given that the Time Lords were telepathic, they probably would've scorned purely mechanical/computerized technology.
My new pet theory, based on Eleven's remark early on in S5 that the pool is now in the library, is that each time the Doc regenerates or some particularly bad event happens to him--because he's *hers*--it rattles the poor ship and she loses/misplaces a room or three. (Poor ship. <3).
I just got to the end of S3 on the weekend, and I was missing one thing--I *really* wanted more of Martha's story, during that year.

Date: 2011-01-25 03:28 pm (UTC)I know I've happened on some fics dealing with Martha's Year that Never Was -- at AO3, I think. And I just read a fic about what the Torchwood crew did that year. Hmm... there may be a Whoniverse rec post in my future, if I can re-find the thing I'm thinking of.

Yay, rec post?
