Yuletide?

I am well enough to contemplate Doing Things again!

I spent almost all of yesterday in bed watching TV, sneezing and knitting. I didn't even write, didn't walk dogs, didn't do anything.

If I can write 4000 words today and another 4000 tomorrow, I'll be back where I want to be. I think I should be able to catch up on the around-the-house stuff by tomorrow, too.

I'll be even further behind at work, since I went home six hours early yesterday, but that's just too bad.

I'm thinking about Yuletide, trying to decide if I want to participate this year. I just saw The Secret of Moonacre (and why isn't it Moon Acre anyway?), which is the sort of not-quite-fairy-tale kind of thing I always request, but this time in movie form (since I haven't been great with reading books lately).

OR I COULD REQUEST TWELVE HOUSES FIC! Lisa, Kit, Rosie, Elscy, are any of you up for Yuletide this year? It would be lovely if a few of us could request and/or offer in this fandom!

Other candidates include the books Will Grayson Will Grayson, Thirteen Little Blue Envelopes/The Last Little Blue Envelope, and Five Children and It, or the TV show Missing.

... which kind of answers that question: yes, it seems likely that I'm doing Yuletide this year.

Three days off this week! Which is great, and necessary, because work is going to be just wretched from about July 18 to August 1.

In between recovering from my knee injury and making the tiniest bit of progress on my Decathlon fics, I'm entirely captivated by the Twelve Houses world. Expect a lengthy post about that once I finish Reader and Realynx; for now I'll just say this: if Kel was my role model for my early to mid 20s, Senneth is my role model now, and I need that. Also, I adore Amelie's brightness and strength of character; and studly!Cammon is both hilarious and also adorable (and also -- did anybody else get this? -- reminds me of SMACKDOWN 2010 studly!Owen).

COINCIDENTALLY, I PROMISE, I have Senneth hair right now! I got bored with my natural color (light-brown/dark-blond-ish) and went pale sunshine blonde again; it's humid, and I need a trim, and the result is that I have a blonde halo that sticks out in all directions.

Arrrgh.

I want to be writing SMACKDOWN fic tonight, but I can't make myself care enough. Buri/Thayet is going to lose and Lark/Rosethorn is going to win, and that's fine. (Yes, I'm feeling fatalist about it right now.) I have a lot of B/T plot bunnies and ideas, but... it's not happening. I've posted 16 drabbles for this round, which is less than any round last year, and that might be it. As I said in a comment to [livejournal.com profile] kitty_ryan  the other day, I really will be delighted to support whoever wins this fight in the next round. (Unless they go up against Circlecest, of course. *g*) And I'm looking forward to, I hope, writing with some of the lovely people I've been writing against this round.

I'm arguing with myself about the next set of fights, too. Work is nuts until March 21 -- after fight 2 ends -- so I'm probably better off staying out of it entirely. But I'm starting to feel motivated about Kel/Maura, so I don't know.

Meanwhile, I'm exhausted almost all the time, and it's getting tedious. I have shit to do! Not sure where to go with that.

Ho hum. Maybe I'll try to write a little, after all.

What kind of geek does it make me that I just set up a Scrivener project called "LiveJournal Posts"? But I keep thinking of things I want to post/write about, and then forgetting, then remembering again, then forgetting...

So now I have tabs set up for every post topic I want to write. They'll mostly have to hold off until after NaNo, Yuletide, and Glake Ficmas are done, but after that, I'll start spamming you. :)

Why look, is that a new tag? Yep -- it's fun being me!

For fuck's sake. Yuletide isn't government, nor is it education, nor a business trying to garner investments. There's no obligation for "transparency" or "uniformity." It's a fan fiction exchange. For fun. If you don't like it, and if complaining directly to the people who make the decisions doesn't yield the desired result, don't play. Let the rest of us enjoy it, hey?

Still not sure I like the method of sorting being used this year, but I do understand why it's necessary. And more to the point, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what I think. I want to play, I play by [info]elynross's rules. I'm okay with that.

This is absolutely not directed at anybody on my f'list here; I just had to get the *headdesk* out and I don't think the [livejournal.com profile] yuletide mods need to deal with yet another person complaining (even if I'm complaining about all the complaining).

OTOH: should I start a "What's your favorite thing about Yuletide? Tag, you're it!" post on the Yuletide comm? Seems like we could do with some more positive over there.

In other news: who has an "OMG-must-go-to-the-store-NOW" kind of craving for cabbage? Me, apparently. WTF, self?
