Anybody know of a free program for making/editing animated gifs? Limited-time-free-trials would also be fine. What's not fine is the Bannershop "free trial" the sticks a whole new frame with a hideous stripe across the middle 30% of the icon at the end. "Watermark," my ass.

(Icon, such as it is, is by me and is up for grabs to anyone with the capacity to remove that last frame.)

ETA: GIMP did the trick! Yay! Thanks [livejournal.com profile] opalgirl28 !

Further ETA: [livejournal.com profile] green_maia , I don't know your feelings on animated gifs, but if they don't drive you mad, you're welcome to snag this one. I'm working on some other Hamlet icons, too.

I don't know whether it watermarks, but you might try coffecup gif animator?

Shiny! I'll give it a try. :)

I think an actual watermark wouldn't bother me much, but the UNREGISTERED stripey Bannershop tacked on is more than just a watermark, IMO.

Yeah, the unregistered banner is ridiculous.

Yes it is.

The Coffee Cup watermark is an actual watermark.

However, for some reason the "still .gifs --> animated .gif" transition made Hamlet look like a zombie. :p So I'm trying another program...

OTOH, I now have a ZOMBIE HAMLET icon. Just in case.

If I had my desktop with imageready on it set up, I would totally gif-ify Hamlet McCrazypants for you.

*nodnod*

I learned photoshop before I tried the gimp, so I've never been able to pick it up adequately. (Although apparently you can do anything there that you can do in PS.)

Super easy.

Image (http://tinypic.com?ref=2vnq5av)

It has a bit of a learning curve, but I removed that frame in The GIMP. (http://www.gimp.org/windows/) Totally free and open-source image editor.

It totally worked. XD

Looks like you can do brushes in GIMP, too, which is one of the few things I can't do in Paint.NET, my other favorite graphics program. Awesome!

IIRC properly (I haven't made graphics in a while), GIMP can also handle Photoshop brushes, and there's an entire section of GIMP brushes at DeviantART.

Thanks for that tidbit! I know zero about brushes, so either way it will be interesting.

Re: your Son of Comment, I *did* start to type your old username up above, even though I had just replied to your comments as [livejournal.com profile] opalgirl28. It will sink in after a couple of weeks, I'm guessing. XD
