All right then.

I just finished listening to The Hunger Games, and... wow. Just, wow. I don't have the words to describe the power of the story; if anybody hasn't read it, do so now -- but be prepared to get sucked in for twelve hours, more or less continuously, and to not be able to stop thinking about it once you're done.

Miriam has the sequel, Catching Fire, in actual book form, and Mockingjay in audio book again, so I'll probably borrow them both. But I can already tell the romance angle is going to make me spend half of Catching Fire yelling at Katniss (and the boys, I suppose) to STFU and get some perspective.*

Which is actually really ironic, when Katniss spent half of the first book yelling at the audience of the games about that very same thing.

I don't suppose I can skip past book two and get right to Mockingjay, which I've heard nothing but good things about. Or could I?

*And if that's my mindset right now, maybe I won't end up writing for the Peculiar Pairing Ficathon, after all. *Ponders*

The second half of Catching Fire more than makes up for the absolute stupid of Team Gale and/or/with-bells-on Team Peeta. I promise. Also, you get to meet some very important secondary characters. But...yes. It'll induce wincing.

LOL, ok. Thanks for that.

I have to read it fast and then babble about it a bunch, I think. :)

God, you put your finger on it exactly - the story is so powerful. Of course, the romance both makes me love the trilogy and makes me want to punch every character in the face.

When you read CF, let me know how you like Finnick. He's my favorite character of all of them. ♥

Hee, Mandi. I'm trying to get around to where I can love the romance angle, too, but I'm not there yet.
