Emelan drabble!

This one is for
kitty_ryan , because I sometimes have an incredibly literal mind.
The alloy was colored like gold, but harder. Daja flicked her finger against the wire, listening to the tone. It was wrong: thread-like. Something Sandry could work, not Daja.
“Still at it, lugsha?”
Daja turned to see Polyam entering the forge. “Listen.” She flicked the wire again. “It should ring. Not this thin sound.” Her forehead wrinkled in frustration.
Polyam took in the coils of bent wire, dropped carelessly on the bench, and the diminishing stock of fresh metal. “You're wasting money,” she said, in trader-talk.
“I know,” Daja said, miserably. “I'll ask Frostpine.”
Polyam grasped Daja's hand. “Ask tomorrow.”
