Pierce Drabbles!

peroxidepirateLook, now I have a Beka Cooper icon! (For added geekery, the font is called "Cooper.") I'm still too sick to go anywhere (just a cold, but an ugly one), and having a hard time making decisions. But I wrote some drabbles.

“Are you jealous?” Lark asked, closing the greenhouse door behind her.
“She can talk to her plants,” Crane replied. “I mean, they actually talk to her.”
“It isn't.” Lark tilted her head. “Talking. Not exactly.”
“You'd know?”
“Thread communicates with me, but not with words.”
Frustrated, Crane paced the room. “What is it, then?”
Lark pushed up her sleeves – it was hot inside the greenhouse. “Ever been to bed with someone, without talking? And still known what they wanted, what they felt? What to do?”
“Rosethorn.” He wouldn't look at Lark.
She reached for Crane's hand. “It's just like that.”

Clary stared at the pile on the corner of the desk, willing it to disappear.
“It's going nowhere.” Mattes stood in the doorway, hands in his pockets. “Not until you deal with it.”
“Sit down. You can help me.”
“Oh, no. I have my own reports to write. Beka's waiting.”
“Beka?” She raised an eyebrow. “You're not meeting Sabine?”
“Eventually. Business first, though.”
Clary sighed. “Remember the old days? We always had time – after watch, anyway.”
His smile was slow and warm. “Had to make our own entertainment.”
She looked back, heat in her eyes. “I miss that.”
“Me too.”
I'm also still taking drabble requests over here. :)

Date: 2010-05-31 10:05 pm (UTC)I realized halfway through writing it that Crane is an ambient mage, too, and wondered if it would still work. But I don't believe he has the close, personal connection with plants that Rosethorn and Briar have.
