Okay! For soup, there's a really good cumin seed and pepper soup my mom and I made-- it's light and we served it over rice, but it could go either way. The Indian name for it is jeera rasam. For the entree, you could either do a curry or an entree? I personally like curries more in the winter, but if you don't want to do a curry you could made a biryani? I have my own recipes for a vegetarian biryani, that soup, and a spicy lentil soup if you'd like as well.
