Watching a TNG episode called "Coming of Age," in which Wesley Crusher undergoes an Ordeal of Knighthood psych test in which he must face his deepest fears and Captain Picard is offered the position of Training Master Director of Star Fleet Academy.

I need an icon that just says, "fangirl cackle."

*snicker*

While I really adore [livejournal.com profile] q_sama's fancasting of Ed Harris for Wyldon, Patrick Stewart's a close second.

(I know you're not a gamer, but he voices a-very-soon-to-be-dead emperor in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Never fails to make me giggle).

Tangentially related: I stumbled upon an episode of the original series the other day. It looked as if the props had been made from what they had lying around the set/cardboard and styrofoam. Oh, '60s low-budget sci-fi, never change.

Heee. Patrick Stewart is my back-up Wyldon. ^______^

As much as I hate am annoyed by Wesley Crusher, I might have to see if I have this episode...

He's my close second, too. ^___^ And I never made it much beyond his death in Oblivion because I wanted more of him. (well, and I'm not much of a gamer... I spent my time hopping around the city.)

Perhaps more likely, Tammy saw TNG and unconsciously snerched the dynamic which is admittedly not v. original to begin with?

Oh, no doubt! I actually don't think there's any connection at all -- it's an episode from 1988, meaning Pierce had developed the Ordeal of Knighthood prior to that time, and as you say, it's not exactly a novel concept. And the Picard-Wyldon connection is pretty tenuous (particularly since Picard didn't accept the position). It's just finding BOTH those things in one episode that made me giggle. I tend to cackle at connections between my fandoms whether they're coincidental or deliberate. :)
