On the other hand, where has Alison Krauss been all my life? Specifically, I'm in love with the song, "The Lucky One," by Alison Krauss & Union Station. I've listened to it about thirty times since Saturday afternoon, and I could happily keep going.

(Ignore the goofiness of the video, and just listen to it.)

Aside from R/G angst!fic, the only thing I want to write at this moment is a line-by-line drabble series based on this song.

You're the lucky one
So i've been told
As free as the wind,
Blowin' down the road
Loved by many, hated by none
I'd say you're lucky 'cause I know what you've done
Not a care in the world
Not a worry in sight
Everything's gunna be alright
Cause you're the lucky one

You're the lucky one
Always havin' fun
A jack of all trades a master none
You look at the world with a smilin' eye
And laugh at the devil as his train goes by

Give you a song and a one night stand
And you'll be looking at a happy man
'cause you're the lucky one.

Well you're blessed i guess
By never knowing which road your choosin.
To you the next best thing
To playin and winning is playin and losing

You're the lucky one i know that now
Don't ask you why, when, where, or how
You look at the world thru your smilin' eye
And laugh at the devil as his train goes by

Give you a song and a one night stand
And you'll be looking at a happy man
'cause you're the lucky one

Well you're blessed i guess
By never knowing which road your choosin.
To you the next best thing
To playin and winning is playin and losing

You're the lucky one i know that now
Don't ask you why, when, where, or how
No matter where you're at, it's where you'll be
You can bet your luck won't follow me
Just give you a song and a one night stand
And you'll be looking at a happy man
Cause you're the lucky one.

I can't quite figure out who fits the lyrics, though -- especially, "Jack of all trades and master of none," which doesn't really fit anyone in any of my fandoms. I'm still thinking on it.

And, "The next best thing to playing and winning is playing and losing," is gonna be an icon, if I can fit it all on there. Someday it might even be a tattoo.

Are you familiar with Vienna Teng (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8nypWKa_aU&feature=list_related&playnext=1&list=MLGxdCwVVULXcZ54--iPmoi2gb_SGQwv0t)'s work? Strikes me that she might suit both your taste and mood at the moment. :)

Oh, that's very pretty! Thanks for the link.

My crappy internet connection, which is getting progressively crappier, is less likely to crash every 20 minutes if I have something streaming, so I've been listening to music a lot recently. (:

I totally second Dar Williams. She is one of my all-time favourite. (Her song 'The Christians and the Pagans', I think, is pretty much my favourite Christmas-Sosltice song.)

This song reminds me of pre-asthma Lark and Rosethorn romanticising her pre-Mire days. Iiii'm not exactly sure why. (Probably because my brain is about 90% Rosethorn/Lark at this point and it's frustrating because I actually can't write anything.)

Anyway, that song is absolutely gorgeous! And I actually liked the video a bit too. :B
